• With many thanks to Craig and Nat Davis of Coonamble Angus Stud, stud sire Coonamble Prospect has been released for stud duties in the Black Market and Cherylton joining programs. Coonamble Prospect, a Baldridge Bronc son out of the very highly regarded dam L105 has built a tremendous legacy at Coonamble over many years. Prospect is the sire of $72K ST Genetics bull Coonamble Sampson S54 and joins an elite team stud bulls including Showtime, Breaking Ground, Aldean, Rogan, Swindell and Vance.

  • Cherylton stud sire Blackrock Breaking Ground has completed walking duties and has been trucked east by World Wide Sires to their collection facilities at Holbrook in New South Wales. Breaking Ground has generated interest from eastern states breeders and World Wide Sires representative Dale Edwards was keen for the bull to move east in order to meet demand for the spring mating season.

  • August 9th was the last day of AI for 2025 with cows inseminated at Brookhampton. Dr Mick Clews is engaged as our reproductive technician for both inseminations and pregnancy scanning. AI sires used in the 2025 matings include Coonamble Showtime, Baldridge Badger, Ellingson Prolific, Millah Murrah Sunstruck, Basin Jameson, Cherylton Rolex, Pine View Mogul, Clewden Newry Uppercut, and Millah Murrah Quartz.

  • Black Market and Cherylton Angus have recently completed their largest and most exciting embryo program to date. 203 embryos were implanted by Dr Richard Hall. Dams represented included record breakers Coonamble Donna L329 (32) Cherylton Portia P302 (15) and Black Market Rogan’s dam, Black Market Wilcoola N060 (34)

  • Recently purchased stud sire, Blackrock Breaking Ground U177 was contracted to international genetics company World Wide Sires. Dale Edwards of World Wide Sires successfully negotiated the semen marketing rights with Cherylton Angus with the bull initially required for walking duties amongst the Cherylton herd at Brookhampton.

  • Black Market sold 41/46 bulls at an average of $8,573 in the 2025 sale fixture. Topping the sale was Lot 3 Cherylton Rolls Royce U713 at $47,000, sold for stud duties to Ballawina Angus Stud in Albany. The bull was brought to the attention of Ballawina’s Doug Johnston and Mick Pratt by Dr Richard Hall. Other highlights included lot 14 purchased by GL & RK Dickson for $19,000 and Lot 42 purchased by Hampden Farms for $12,500.

  • Cherylton Angus purchases Blackrock Breaking Ground U177 at the 2025 Blackrock bull sale. Breaking Ground U177 was identified by Cherylton stud principal Paul Torrisi and Nutrien representative Chris Waddingham as a stud sire to join the Cherylton program. Breaking Ground U177, a Landfall New Ground son is an outcross to most Cherylton bloodlines, has a great disposition, excellent claw shape and structure and an impressive, balanced set of data.

  • Black Market and Callanish owned stud cow Coonamble Donna L329 has cranked out an astounding 159 embryos since being purchased for $38,000 in November 2022. An L329 son held the state record in 2022 selling for $72,000 to Arizona Farms. Black Market has 35 progeny on the ground in 2024 and a further 24 pregnancies for 2025.

  • Black Market Angus is excited to announce a partnership with Cherylton Angus resulting in an expanded offering of Angus genetics. Under the arrangement, clients will have exclusive access to bulls bred on Cherylton bloodlines, both in the annual Black Market bull sale and by private selections. We look forward to working with Julian Walter and Adam Kelly of Cherylton Angus.

  • Whilst back on last year’s record result, the Black Market 2024 bull sale achieved a solid result given market and seasonal conditions to register an average of $9,108 with 37 bulls sold at auction from an offering of 45. The three top priced bulls were natural calves from Black Market bred sires with Black Market Rome T072 selling to long term clients Treeton Lake for $22,000.

  • We are pleased to report that the first calves from record breaking sire Coonamble Showtime S42 hit the ground at Black Market Angus. All heifers calved unassisted. Early signs are the calves are dopey quiet and showing plenty of thickness.

  • Black Market and Callanish owned stud cow Coonamble Donna L329 has produced an outstanding 68 embryos in a recent flushing program. Under the expert management of Callanish stud principal, Gavin Russell, L329 plonked out 35 embryos sired by Ellingson Prolific and 33 sired by Ellingson Three Rivers. The embryos were collected and implanted in recipent cows by Dr Richard Hall of Golden Arm Genetics. Coonamble Donna L329 son Coonamble Frontman R501 set a WA state record in 2022 selling for $72,000 to Arizona Farms of Lake Grace.

  • Black Market Angus sets new stud record with 42/42 bulls sold to a top of $44,000 and to average $12,429. Sale topper Black Market One Fiddy sold to an Esperance based syndicate between WJ & FJ Graham and Allegria Park Angus Stud.

  • Coonamble Showtime S42 was purchased in a sydicate comprising of Black Market Angus Stud, Cherylton Angus, Tonebridge Grazing and Black Tara Angus for a WA state record price of $106,000. Black Market, Cherylton and Tonebridge Grazing will share walking rights. Showtime has been contracted to World Wide Sires who will manage semen sales.

  • Black Market Angus in syndicate with Callanish Angus of Donnybrook recently purchased the dam of current WA State record priced Angus sire, Coonamble Frontman R501.

    Coonamble Frontman R501 was purchased at the Davis family’s 2022 bull sale for a record $72,000 by Arizona Farms, Lake Grace.

    The dam of Frontman R501, Coonamble Donna L329 was purchased by Black Market and Callanish for $38,000. L329 is an Elevator daughter out of super donor cow Coonamble D94.

    L329 will join Black Market and Callanish donor cows in an extensive flushing program in 2023 and progeny will form a new bloodline for the Donnybrook based studs.
